Work Experience in IT and Data Centers
On this page, I share my experiences during internships and work in the IT and data center field. Since my high school years, I have had various opportunities to gain practical experience at both large companies and specialized IT organizations. My focus has always been on hardware, software, and infrastructure, from service desks to data center environments.
The following sections describe my experiences per employer, highlighting the tasks I performed, the skills I developed, and the insights I gained. This page provides an overview of my growth within the IT sector and my ongoing interest in technology, servers, and networks.
NTT Global Data Centers – Student / Intern Datacenter Operations (August 2024 – July 2025)
During my internship at NTT Global Data Centers, the main focus was on data center asset management, but my responsibilities were much broader and more varied. For the B1-K3 course at school, I had an assignment to roll out a system or software. Coincidentally, NTT was implementing a new asset management system at the same time, and since I would be working there, I decided to combine my school assignment with the NTT project. This allowed me to contribute to an important company project from the start.
Most of my internship focused on implementing the asset management system, digitizing SOPs, MOPs, and EOPs, and optimizing workflows. This project provided me with deep insights into critical data center processes and taught me how technical implementations, documentation, and operational procedures come together.
In addition to the asset management project, I also worked on change management as part of my school assignment for the Datacenter IT Technology course. I was involved in planning, registering, and executing changes within the data center, following proper procedures to ensure operational continuity. I also performed various service desk and remote hands activities, such as supporting staff, troubleshooting technical issues, and preparing hardware for deployment or replacement.
This internship also allowed me to further develop my project management, teamwork, communication, and IT support skills. Thanks to the guidance of my supervisors, I felt like a full team member and was able to actively contribute to the efficiency and accuracy of the data center.
Through this combination of school assignments, technical projects, and operational tasks, I gained a comprehensive understanding of how a modern data center operates, from asset management and change management to IT support and infrastructure management. This experience not only deepened my knowledge and skills but also strengthened my enthusiasm for data centers and IT infrastructure.
Leerbedrijf Zebra – ICT Intern (December 2019 – March 2020)
During my four-month internship at Leerbedrijf Zebra, I gained broad experience in IT support. At the service desk, I assisted students, teachers, and staff at Nova College with various IT issues. I was also responsible for lending and managing IT equipment for ICT Academy students, including registering, wiping, and reinstalling laptops.
I also worked in the exam center, preparing exam environments, testing and clearing used systems, and formatting hard drives of PCs to be reused after exams. This internship provided valuable hands-on experience in both technical work and customer-focused support in an educational IT environment.
BlueICT – ICT Intern (May 2018, via school)
During my two-week internship at BlueICT, I supported the team with the maintenance and repair of laptops and desktops. I helped replace components such as hard drives and installed and updated Windows. Additionally, I created a network diagram in Visio, which greatly improved my understanding of network structures.
This internship provided practical experience in IT support and network management and allowed me to further develop my technical skills in a professional environment.
Fujitsu – Observational Internship at Schiphol (May 2018)
During my observational internship at Fujitsu, working for their client Schiphol, I shadowed service desk staff. My tasks mainly involved replacing or reinstalling computers with a clean version of Windows.
This internship provided a clear insight into working in a professional IT environment and taught me how to quickly and efficiently solve hardware and software issues. It was a valuable experience that strengthened my interest in IT support and data center environments.
Fujitsu – Observational Internship at Alliander (October 2017)
During my one-day observational internship at Alliander, via Fujitsu, I shadowed onsite IT professionals from the service desk. I also had the opportunity to visit one of their data centers, gaining insight into the infrastructure and operations of large IT environments.
This experience provided an initial practical view of IT support in a professional setting and reinforced my interest in data centers and enterprise IT.
Solvinity – Observational Internship (January 2016 & January 2017)
Already during my high school years, I participated in one-day observational internships at Solvinity. During these days, I toured various data centers and assisted in installing servers and replacing hard drives.
This experience marked the beginning of my ongoing interest in cloud technology, data centers, and server management, laying the foundation for my later internships and career in the IT and data center industry.
